Tłusty Czwartek vs. Mardi Gras

Tłusty Czwartek vs. Mardi Gras

Did you know that..?

Today, the 8th of February, Poland celebrates Fat Thursday which is called Tłusty Czwartek.

People purchase traditional pączki (doughnuts), which are large deep-fried pieces of especially rich dough, traditionally filled with rose petal jam and topped with powdered sugar or glaze.

In Belgium instead of Fat Thursday in a few days will be celebrated the Fat Tuesday - Mardi Gras.

It refers to events of the Carnival celebration and the most popular the carnival of Binche. During this time, the city is going through a fancy dress parade - the most important is Gille with a specific dance and costume.

Oranges fly over the cheering crowd (thrown for good luck)!
