P.S. IT'S ALL MUSIC
with Piet Swerts (piano) and the Ataneres Ensemble (strings)
In the new reality of "social distancing", music continues to connect, move and heal. More than ever, it makes you return to yourself and ask existential questions. We are slowly realizing that our society will never be the same again. “P.S. It's all music” pays homage to a bygone era, but also looks forward to a dynamic sequel.
This production is a retrospective in the long, adventurous musical career of Maestro Piet Swerts. His older works of the eighties, in particular Elegia, Martenizza, Rotations, are in balance with more recent ones, such as the Sonatas, Chanson d'Amour, Lake of Love and Drive Extended. The various sources of inspiration of Swerts’ compositions have also been incorporated into the program. His own music is alternated with his new subtle arrangements of Chopin's posthumous Nocturne, the Adagio from Beethoven's Emperor's Concerto, Satie's famous Gymnopédie, Debussy's atmospheric Claire de Lune and Soler's vibrant Fandango.
Piet Swerts was born 60 years ago and has been active in the music world for fifty years now. This concert is a reflection on his career. He is accompanied by the dynamic, warm, professional, young strings of the Ataneres Ensemble.
This event is by invitation only.
Because of the pandemic, the gala concert can not take place anymore as planned on November 18th.
An alternative date for the concert in 2021 is currently being explored.
