CloudPiling, pioneer in geotechnical software, aims to expand into Poland

About CloudPiling

The CloudPiling software is made for and by civil engineers. We support both engineering firms and contractors specialising in foundation piles, retaining walls and soil anchors through optimizing the workflow. We focus on the complete geotechnical and structural design so everything can be calculated with one single software.

With this world's very first web application for the niche market of deep foundations, founders Thomas Zwaenepoel and Michelle Vanhove are turning the industry upside down, because they radically choose digitization.

These professional and private partners started CloudPiling in May 2020 at the proverbial kitchen table, but in the meantime, the company works in a brand new office, supported by five employees. Thomas Zwaenepoel takes the lead on development and trends in the geotechnical world, while Michelle Vanhove takes the lead on sales, marketing and HR.

"Yes, it sometimes gets rough between us," Michelle Vanhove laughs, "but that's what you get with strong characters. Besides, that way we always get the best results."

Why CloudPiling?

  • Proven time reduction because each action only needs to be performed once. No more duplication of effort.
  • You can quickly calculate different alternatives so that your customer always receives the most economical design. Several study cases show an average material reduction of 30% (concrete and steel).
  • Fast and efficient processing and interpretation of the cone penetration tests.
  • Calculating a combination of bearing capacity, vertical settlement, and horizontal deformation.
  • These calculations are immediately translated into a structural design (e.g. reinforcement plan, anchor design, ...).
  • Automatic generation of a calculation note and complete bill of quantities. These are maintained centrally on the platform.
  • Your in-house knowledge is converted into a single package (knowledge retention). This is a great asset for training junior engineers.
  • Building up your own database in your cloud environment.

Key role for the carbon footprint

By using CloudPiling you will contribute to one of the most important climate solutions to achieve the desired emission of 2023. After water, concrete is the most consumed product on earth. However, the production of cement, the main component of concrete, requires a lot of energy and releases CO2 during this chemical reaction. More so, this production accounts for 8% of CO2 emissions worldwide. CloudPiling's parametric calculation model ensures that the same structures can be built with on average 30% less concrete without sacrificing comfort.

Some nice things our customers say

Engineering department – Willy Naessens Group (Belgium and the Netherlands):

“The numerical win of a new tool is difficult to estimate in advance, but the results of the study case in speed and optimization in concrete and reinforcement were incredible. CloudPiling is clearly not a cost, but an investment that pays back at lightning speed.”

CEO Patrick Ijnsen – Van’t Hek Groep (the Netherlands):

“Thank you Michelle, Thomas and other CloudPiling colleagues for your flexibility, energy and commitment in laying the foundation for this collaboration! CloudPiling combines state-of-the-art software, practical experience on site and geotechnical knowledge in a user-friendly platform.”

CEO Carl Van Rooy – Van Rooy powered by Aertssen (Belgium):

“ The audacity of this duo in looking at a challenge in our niche sector with an open mind won me over.”
