About the report
The report is the first ever comprehensive publication in the region containing data about the Krakow startup ecosystem, presenting information on employment rates, specialization areas, business models, development stages, sources of financing and challenges faced by 140 surveyed Krakow startups. The report also includes information on support programs and institutions, investment funds, coworking spaces, or selected success stories of companies from Krakow.
Key takeaways:
- Krakow startups are relatively young. 59,3% of surveyed startups were established in the last 5 years (2021-2017).
- Artificial intelligence, business automation / productivity, and mobile apps are among the top technological & product specializations of almost 100 startups in Krakow
- The majority of startups in Krakow are actively looking for funding (with most of them striving between 0.5m and 1.4m EURO), whereas 36% are not in the fundraising mode.
- 85% of Kraków startups have up to 50 employees and 32,5% a maximum of 5 team members.
- 38,6% of the analyzed companies are already generating yearly revenues higher than 50%.
- 50% of startups offer their products and services mainly or solely to Polish clients. While 41,5% of startups operate only or predominantly on international markets.
